Salma Hayek

Salma Hayek has evidently displayed her unique portrayals of significant roles that marked in the history of Hollywood films. She was well recognized all over the globe with her characters in Desperado, Wild Wild West, Fool Rush in and who wouldn’t forget the movie Frida were she played the lead role.

The movie Frida is a story about a Mexican painter, Frida Kahlo. This is a unique movie of a woman who was never afraid to show her true self whether it is an expression of art through her paintings to the number of infidelities she has lived with. Frida is a story of exploring every essence of womanhood through relationships and a type of film that tackles sexuality and freedom through different forms of expression. The film had received 6 nominations for Academy Awards. Hayek also co produced the film which took of about eight years in the making. The title role gained Salma the Best Actress nominations and took home her Best Actress trophy in the Imagen Awards and Golden Camera Awards.

In recent years, Latina actresses has created marks in Hollywood however, Salma Hayek stood as one of the finest actresses ever graced Hollywood movies. She continued to do a lot of roles especially in films like the Timecode, Chain of Fools and even brief appearances in the movie “Traffic” and other television stints. Hayek whose been doing a lot of roles has aimed to cater to Hispanic viewers and give back her success to her country, Mexico.

Her first US production was in 1993, the movie Mi Vida Loca. It was never easy for this Latina star to be where she is now. Her outstanding performance in 1995 Desperado opened the doors of Hollywood for her. In this movie Salma Hayek showed that she can do everything for the sake of the movie’s success. Together with actor Antonio Banderas, Salma was particularly challenged by the stunt of jumping across two buildings. The production staff would want Salma to have a stuntwoman but then she had proven everyone wrong as she did the stunt with Banderas impressively. In 1997, Salma Hayek’s star truly shines as she landed the lead role in the cultural comedy film Fools Rush In with Matthew Perry. The most challenging part for a beginner Hayek was to dance with a snake in the movie From Dusk Till Dawn. Madonna was even after for the role however, Salma being determined as she was conquered her fear and with two months of going to a therapist for the much coveted role.

Hayek even when she’s given insignificant appearances and roles would always make it a point to offer her best performance. Even if it only means having a five minute exposure, she certainly goes beyond what is expected of her and made it a point that it would be the best five minutes any viewer would remember all their lives. She gained a lot of audiences through short stints and made her way up to the ladder of success.
